Introduction

The Office of Consultation and Career Development (OCCD) is a business unit that was established by the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University in 1986 to provide training, consultation, calibration and testing services in all fields of engineering, to industrial, commercial, and public organizations.
 

Aim

OCCD aims to be the primary and richest source of engineering expertise in Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf area.
 

Strategy

OCCD has a business strategy that consists of three dimensions:

  • Leveraging Resources
    1.    Over 150 professional, highly qualified staff, consultants and trainers.
         152 engineers
         180 technical and admin staff
         Over 80 internationally designed and operated calibration and testing laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, computers and software.
         Far reaching partnership with distinguished affiliates.
         Staff that are engaged in life long learning.
         Staff that are working as a single team.

    1.     Capitalizing on the location of the OCCD in an academic and research environment.
          Institutionalizing an on-going process of office improvement.

OCCD renders the following services :


Training & Career Development :

The tremendous speed in the development of engineering sciences demands the existence of OCCD to make available the latest engineering technologies. Therefore, OCCD plans and organizes intensive engineering programs which serve over two hundred and fifty governmental and private organizations in Kuwait and the gulf area. The aim of OCCD is to extend the benefits of its services to the largest possible number of organizations as well as improving the academic practical performance standards of engineers in the different fields. OCCD executes its training courses in the form of Regular scheduled courses published yearly for all engineering working sectors and Private courses customized as per client request . Thus our training courses are categorized as follow :

Testing & Calibration Services:

The College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University places all its laboratory facilities under the control of OCCD to provide services for both government and private sectors. OCCD enjoys the advantages of an integrated technical body composed of Professors, engineers, chief technicians, and highly qualified efficient technicians, as well as the best and state of the art equipment which aid technical staff in diagnosing and carrying out most of the required tests. It is also worth mentioning that more than two hundred private and governmental sectors make use of the facilities in this respect. Testing & Calibration Centers are:

  • Constructions Studies Center

  • Electronic Service Center

  • Mechanical Engineering Service Center

  • Chemical Engineering Service Center

  • Industrial & Systems Engineering Service Center

  • Petroleum Engineering Service Center


Consultations:

The College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University places its technical staff of professors and engineers at the service of the community to fulfill technical and engineering consultation needs. OCCD evaluates problems faced by different national institutions and provides suitable solutions.
