Power Substation Maintenance: Layout, Switchgears and Power Transformers

- Course Objectives :
  • The participants will be familiarized with typical electric substation layout and components. The instructors will address different issues related to the operation and maintenance of power transformers and metering and protective devices. In addition, it provides an up-to-date coverage on electrical safety issues including design considerations and safety countermeasures against electric shocks and hazards
  • المشاركون في هذة الدورة سوف يتعرفون على المكونات و المعدات المستعملة في محطات التغذية الكهربائية ، حيث سيغطي المحاضرون مواضيع مختلفة مرتبطة بأسس و صيانة تلك المعدات مثل محولات الطاقة الكهربائية و نظم الحماية ، و كذلك خطوات الأمن و السلامة المتبعة في عمليات الصيانة
  
- Course Outline :
    Day 1
    • Substation layout.
    • Single-quantity meters.
    • Fuses and protective relays.
    • Switchgear equipment.
    • History of circuit breakers. (VS)
    Day 2
    • Current and Potential transformers.
    • Arc interruption theory.
    • Circuit breakers types.
    • TRV and overload ratings of C.B. (VS)
    Day 3
    • Transformer working principles, tests and equivalent circuit.
    • Transformer steady-state operation.
    • Over-voltage surges and MOV.
    • Maintenance of power transformers.
    • ETAP session: Single-line diagram
    Day 4
    • Power transformers Protection.
    • Bus Protection. (optional)
    • Grounding Theory and Design.
    • ETAP session: Grounding case studies.
    Day 5
    • Field trip: I) Al-Ahlia Electrical Panels Manufacturing Co.
    • II) MEW 132 kV/ 11 kV transmission substation.
